LS-12s are a little better with the low bass than the VEs. I feel like there is a very limited bass response to anything under 60hz with these. With this brand you can't adjust the 100hz type bass down far enough for comfort and clarity no matter what you do. I like deep 30hz - 60hz bass and typically will adjust the 100hz down to a tolerable level. If you like bass in the range of 80hz to 125hz you may like these speakers. I feel like the crossovers they put in these things rob the music of clarity. They look amazing! and that is what drew me to them in the first place, but the sounds that come out of this brand is muddy at best. That being said, I wanted so much to like the sound quality of the Cerwins, but no matter how much I fiddle with my EQ levels and no matter which of my three different receivers I hook them up to they just don't reproduce sound well. Of Coarse this just my view and opinion having live here locally an been to the Dlk factory to pick my dad all custom Dlk 4's he ordered with There unbelievable an outstanding Alnico magnets.I own a set of the LS-12s and a set of the newer (Chinese Made) VE-12Fs and the old LS-12s sound much better than the VE-12Fs. However on the Onni Don used both in house custom made woofer an 4 1/2" midrange, they also mainly used all Peerlees woofers an mids in the lower Domus line 3's an below an on the Domus 3's they used both the peerless 12" woofers n 2" soft dome midrange but they did not used Peerless tweeters they used Pizeo horn tweeters on the Domus 3's.Now the Domus lower line sounded fine an nice for sure But they are in no way comparable to Dlk line in both quality of construction an pure audio excellence. Now in the Domus line the factory went to all off the shelf OEM drivers except on the Mirage an Omni models which still used Don's own in house factory made woofers in that Mirage model only. You had to go above the Domus 3 model to the Omni and Mirage models to get the real wood top-of-the-line real wood cabinets which was an outstanding speakers but they are Not equal to the Dlk Model 4's ! I still preferred the Dlk model 4 over them all day, An also all woofers n mids used in the Dlk 3's had Don's custom hand wound voice coils an custom designed spider suspension assemblies as well as Don making all his own custom paper cones made in house at there factory, Don did however use off-the-shelf OEM tweeters for the most part. And also on Don's Dlk 3's model they were all basically custom hand made speakers which came with real wood cabinets not vinyl like on the Domus 3's. For starters the Dlk 3's were bass reflex an the Domus 3's were acoustic suspended. Hi unavita! The Dlk 3's are completely different animal then there later line Domus 3's. ![]() That is, are they going to give me a quality sound or are they just boom boxes? Haven't had the chance to compare them with any other speakers I have, so I was wondering if anybody else has any experience with them. But before I could, the stockclerk pipes up and says yes. So when the cashier asked if they were indeed furniture I was about to say no. Now, I've tried to get speakers out as furniture before but the cashiers would never go for it. Meanwhile, this was on their 75% off all furniture day. I said yes, thank you, and he got one and pushed it up to the checkout for me. ![]() ![]() He asks me if I wanted a flatbed handcart for them. ![]() So I was fumbling around with the big speaker cartons to get them to the checkout, when along comes one of the stock clerks. They were priced at $29.99 including the stands, and I figured I couldn't go too far wrong either way. Just picked up a pair of DLK/3's almost like new in their original cartons with matching DLK stands also still in their box.
